Fire Safety London

Fire safety londonWe all know how dangerous fires are and that fires in the home can cost lives. Electrical fires are most common and caused by faulty appliances and carelessness. Last year there were 31,000 accidental dwelling fires within the UK, 187 of these were fatal. 4,277 were non-fatal fire casualties.

In the case of a fire:

- Make sure you raise the alarm and get everyone out of the property as quick as possible through the closest escape route.

- To stop the fire spreading quickly, close doors which are open and only open the doors needed to get out.

- If a door is warm, don’t go through it as the fire will be on the other side.

- Only climb out of a window if the ground floor is blocked.

- Crawl along the floor if there is a lot of smoke because the air is cleaner and easier to breath.

- Walls, floors and doors in flats and apartments will hold back smoke and flames for a short while.

- If you live in a block of flats, and there is a fire in another part of the building, stay in your flat unless the heat or smoke is affecting you.

- If in a block of flats, do not take the lift as an escape route, take the stairs.

It is not worth taking the risk by using faulty electrical appliances in case of a fire. Keep your family and home safe and let a professional electrician in London take care of any repairs needed. Pukkajob electricians will also conduct a full electrical inspection. Give us a call on 0790 667 3169 or fill in a quick form via our estimate page if you require our services.
